Diwali Milan Celebration by JSWS at DPS Kolar

“May the light of Diwali guide us on our journey towards a brighter future.”

The Jagran Social Welfare Society (JSWS) organized Diwali Milan, a festive gathering for the entire staff and their families from DPS Kolar, DPS Bhopal, and Jagran Lakecity University, on October 25, 2024. This memorable celebration embodied joy and gratitude, bringing together distinguished administrators, educators, and community members under the guidance of Shri Hari Mohan Guptaji, Founder and Chairman of JSWS, Pro Vice Chairman of Delhi Public Schools in Bhopal, Indore, Kolar Road, and Rau Indore, and Chancellor of Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal and Shri Abhishek Mohan Gupta ji Pro Chancellor of Jagran Lakecity University and Joint Secretary and ,Vice Chairman of JSWS.

Shri Hari Mohan Guptaji commended the entire JSWS family, praising their dedication to quality education and the strong bonds they have nurtured over the years. Dr. B.K. Biswas, Vice-Chancellor of Jagran Lakecity University, emphasized the indispensable role of innovation in education.

The celebration began with the dignitaries lighting the ceremonial lamp. Ms. Vandana Dhupar, Principal of DPS Kolar, welcomed the gathering, reflecting on gratitude as the foundation of thankfulness. Ms. Vinita Malik, Principal of Delhi Public School Bhopal, shared thoughts that echoed the true essence of Diwali—a festival that transcends religious boundaries, fostering unity and harmony.

The evening featured poetic tributes and tokens of appreciation for key dignitaries. A melodious musical performance by Ankit Malik and Neerja Palvi, accompanied by their band, captivated the gathering, creating a sense of rhythm and unity among the attendees. The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks and the distribution of gifts to staff members as symbols of appreciation for their dedication.

Harshotsav

Delhi Public School Kolar Road organized special assembly – Harshotsav on 10th October’24 highlighting the importance of Dussehra. The event was graced by the special guest, Shri Nitin AmbaselkarPresident (Finance & Accounts)Jagran Social Welfare Society, Bhopal , CAO DPS-Bhopal, Indore, Kolar Road & Rau and the parents of class III. The spectacular celebration showcased the essence of the festival – good always triumphs.The assembly commenced with a special prayer and welcome address given by Madam Headmistress, Ms. Sargam Bahal followed by the spectacular dance drama put up by the students of class III which was based on the episodes of Ramayana. The celebration also included competitions for the parents and garba dance . Madam Principal, Mrs. Vandana Dhupar, extended warm wishes on the occasion of Dussehra and emphasized the importance of values such as integrity, patience, and honesty.The program culminated by exuberant effigy burning. ‎ 

Gandhi Jayanti

On October 1, 2024, Delhi Public School, Kolar Road, held a heartfelt assembly to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, honouring the legacies of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Organized by Class IV students, the event celebrated the values of nonviolence, simplicity, and patriotism.

The assembly began with a patriotic welcome address and a ceremonial lighting of the lamp.  Principal, Mrs. Vandana Dupar delivered a prayer focused on Gandhian ideals, while students recited scripture and shared insights on key moments from India’s independence, including the Champaran Satyagraha and Dandi March.

A highlight was the ‘Vocal for Local’ Ramp Walk, where students showcased Khadi attire, emphasizing self-reliance and support for local industries. Cultural performances included a graceful dance to “Vaishnav Jan To,” which received enthusiastic applause, culminating in a moving rendition of “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram.”

The programme concluded with Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Pledge, to keep surroundings clean and free from litter, in honour of Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and self-reliant India.

Session on Gender Awareness & Sensitization

DPS Kolar organized a session on Gender Awareness & Sensitization for its teaching and non-teaching staff on Saturday, 28 September.

The session was conducted by Dr. Onkush Verma, Psychologist & Counsellor. She introduced the topic by explaining the difference between the terms ‘sex’ and ‘gender’. While the former is biological, the latter is societal and acquired.

Gender sensitization is of great significance as it will help make things better for all and result in providing equal opportunities to all members of the society.

The resource person spoke to how even emotions are stereotyped and one is expected to fall under specific categories. She mentioned the different types of violence we have in the society and many gender issues such as education, legal, administrative, economic and their socio-cultural setting.

The session concluded with the discussion on how these stereotypes can be overcome, some of them being, campaigns, education, awareness and the will to speak out.

The 2-hour session ended with a question answer round and Dr. Verma clarified doubts raised by some members.

School Principal, Ms. Vandana Dhupar reiterated how such sessions are extremely important and relevant in the social scenario these days and awareness is the key factor to an equal, happy and healthy society.

POCSO Workshop

DPS Kolar organized a session on POCSO Act for its teachers and non-teaching staff on Thursday, 26 September.

The session was conducted by Ms. Rekha Shridhar, Director, MEET Organisation.

The detailed and informative session began with the busting of certain myths that we harbour regarding the safety of our children. The resource person spoke of an appalling 50-80% cases of sexual abuse that take place right in the homes of children. She then enumerated the different categories of child violence and sexual abuse. She also informed that 53% of boys too face sexual abuse and that Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of cases of child sexual abuse.

The resource person enumerated certain guidelines to be followed for POCSO cases and the prevention of such cases in our homes and schools. First and foremost, these cases need to be mandatorily reported to the nearest police station/ Anganwadi/child helpline/child welfare committee. Great caution must be exercised in the use of words, actions, gestures used with students, and also while uploading any photos/videos on social media.

In addition, a School Complaint System with a detailed SOP and Child Protection Policy have to be in place. Awareness sessions for students, parents, teachers and staff have to be conducted regularly and helpline numbers made available to all.

DPS Kolar Hosts Skill Expo & Guidance Festival – 2024

In keeping with NEP 2020, which lays emphasis on the importance of career guidance for school students and with an aim to encourage creativity, innovation and to foster peer learning of students and teachers, DPS Kolar from CBSE Bhopal Region hosted the CBSE Skill Expo-2024 on 23 August 2024, wherein students of different schools showcased their skill exhibits on identified themes.  More than 20 schools participated in the Regional Event, adding their version and variety to the event.  The Chief Guest, Shri Satish Kumar, Deputy Secretary, Department of Skill Education, CBSE, New Delhi said that the Skill Expo is a mission to empower skilled youth by opening new opportunities and enabling them to showcase their talents globally. This year the participants will have the opportunity to earn credits within the National Credit Framework.  Principal, DPS Kolar, Mrs Vandana Dhupar expressed her gratitude at hosting the event and said that the expo would inspire students and help shape India’s future skill heroes, who will serve as ambassadors for new India.

More than 20 schools from all over MP put up 51 stalls to showcase their diverse skills and talent on a regional level across many skills – from traditional crafts to cutting-edge technologies. They presented their skills under various themes and categories such as Robotics, Generative AI, No-code coding, Data Science, Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, Banking, Financial Services and Insurance, Health, Beauty and Wellness, Hospitality and Tourism.

The judges and visitors were thoroughly impressed by the innovative exhibits and the high level of talent displayed by all the participating schools.

Concurrently, in association with Lifology Foundation, the Guidance Festival-2024 was also organised for students of CBSE affiliated schools.

The Guidance Festival was truly the answer to the real question of ‘How to decide and what to become in the future’.  This decision is becoming tough and complex in the current scenario where a lot of changes are happening in the world of careers. This significantly increases the need for skill guidance at school level. The experts who shared information and guidance were Mr. Rahul J Nair from Lifology Foundation, Ms. Neena James, founder of Perfect Leap the professional firm in Career Counseling and Corporate and Institutional Training and Ms. Chavvi Kumar, Senior Executive, 1M1B (1Million for1 Billion), Speaker and Judge for the Skill Expo.

The event has motivated and instilled a spirit of creativity, innovation, and peer learning among students and teachers. The students, who participated and visited the expo, were brimming with confidence about their future.

Delhi Public School Facilitates – Ignited Minds Career Fest

Delhi Public School Kolar Road Bhopal successfully organized the dynamic Ignited Minds Career Fest on 22nd August 2024. The   event, held in the school premises, was designed to foster connections between the students  of classes 10 to 12 and esteemed representatives from leading universities. The fest featured a diverse range of both national and international universities, providing students and parents a unique opportunity to interact directly with university professionals.

Representatives from Middlesex University Dubai, Alliance University, Thapar School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Jagran Lakecity University, Bennett University, RV University, Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Anant University, MIT World Peace University (MIT WPU), UPES, Ashoka University, Mahindra University, and Al Universal University were present. These institutions offered valuable insights into their academic programmes  admission processes, and career pathways, enabling students to explore diverse fields of study.

The Head of Admissions Shrewsbury International School and the Head of Ignited Intellectual, University Connect Program Mr. Sundeep Sareen also   provided guidance to students.
The Principal Mrs. Vandana Dhupar,  motivated the students that such programmes open doors to new possibilities and help to shape the future with the best academic and professional pathways.”
The Ignited Minds Career Fest was a significant step in guiding students toward their higher education goals, ensuring they are well-prepared for the academic and professional challenges ahead.

Delhi Public School Kolar Road Bhopal Hosts Thrilling Inter School Tech Fest “Extra Quadrata V3.0”

Bhopal, August 8, 2024: Delhi Public School Kolar Road Bhopal successfully organized the third edition of the Inter School Tech Fest “Extra Quadrata V3.0” on August 8, 2024. The event featured six exciting competitions: Site Incroyable, Scio, Technnovate, Creative Cuts, Brainstorm, and SmartBot SmackDown.

Twelve schools participated in the events, with Scio and Technnovate emerging as crowd favorites among the students. The competitions kept the audience engaged throughout, with Site Incroyable and SmartBot SmackDown challenging students to think creatively and showcase their skills.

After intense competition, Sagar Public School, Saket Nagar, Bhopal, emerged as the overall winner, securing the title of “Victor Ludorum” with the highest overall points.

Career Assessment and Guidance Program with Mindler

DPS Kolar recently hosted an enlightening Career Assessment and Guidance Program with Mindler. The program aimed to equip students from classes IX to XII with valuable insights into career choices, assessment preparation, and overseas study opportunities.
The primary objective of the workshops was to enlighten students about the multifaceted aspects of the professional world. The esteemed Resource Persons, Ms Somya Tandon, a Senior Career Coach and Ms Tanishtha Prashar , a Career Coach, shared profound professional insights with pupils. During the session, students received comprehensive guidance on diverse career options, effective assessment preparation strategies, the significance of staying updated with current affairs, and the pathways to pursue overseas studies. Specifically, students in classes IX and X were informed about stream selection based on their interests. They eagerly sought details about various courses aligned with their favourite careers. Overall, the session proved to be highly informative and enriching.”

Inner Circle Session for Class 12 Students by DPS Kolar Alumni

DPS Kolar organized an enlightening session for the students of Class 12. Alumni of DPS Kolar addressed the students of present session on 8th July 2024 at DPS Kolar School Campus . They provided the students an insights into higher education, career opportunities and personal development. These alumni have excelled in their chosen fields. The primary objective of this session was to bridge the gap between 12 Class students of this session and alumni and to offer practical advice and motivation. The alumni shared their experiences, challenges and success stories to inspire and guide the students for their future endeavor. A positive impact was noted on bridging academic and real-world learning in the session addressed by them.

International Yoga Day

International Yoga Day was celebrated on June 21st 2024 by the students of Somvati Devi Shiksha Kendra. The children looked very graceful in white t-shirt and black trousers. Children were told about the importance of yoga , they were told about paying attention to food and drink. After that fruits were distributed to the children. This is how International Yoga Day was celebrated with great joy.

Excursion to Lonavala Imagica and Mumbai

The excursion to Lonavala has been organized to provide participants with a refreshing break after the annual examination before the re-opening of the new academic session 24-25.

A group of 43 students with escort teachers and tour operators boarded the Gorakhpur Panvel Express from Rani Kamlapati on 26 march 2024 . Reached Panvel on 27 th afternoon. Hereafter students enjoyed breathtaking views of lush greenery, waterfalls, and valleys while en route to Lonavala.

The excursion aimed at providing an opportunity for the students to bond with each other, strengthening interpersonal relationships, and fostering a sense of camaraderie.

The troupe reached Square Mall to see the amazing Sunil’s Celebrity Wax Museum, located in Lonavala, The museum boasts a collection of over 100 wax statues depicting famous personalities such as Bollywood stars, Hollywood actors, sports personalities, political leaders, historical figures, and more. The museum provides an immersive experience where visitors can interact with the lifelike statues, capturing memorable moments through photography. After the amazing wax museum, the students were super excited and experienced the thrill, fear and adventure of *HORROR HOUSE* and finally reached *ZARA RESORT* their home away from home.

Eid Celebration

DPS Kolar believes in embracing and honouring the rich tapestry of cultures and traditions that make our community vibrant and diverse. On 9th April’24 a special assembly was organised for the students where in festivals of the month Eid-ul-Fitr , Navratri , Chetichand and Gudipadwa were celebrated . The students of class V presented an assembly including Eid-ul-Fitr symbolising the joy of togetherness and feasting, Navratri resonating with the energy of devotion and dance, Cheti Chand with the spirit of renewal and prosperity and Gudi Padwa symbolising new beginnings and auspiciousness.

The cultural program comprised of a group dance performance that left the audience tapping their feet, followed by a Qawwali that elevated the spectators to an elevated state of mind . The quiz got the curious minds tickling. Madam Headmistress, Ms Sargam Bahal addressed the students and emphasised the need of imbibing values and inculcating the spirit of unity .Madam Principal, Ms Vandana Dhupar praised this amalgam of festival celebrations and congratulated the students and teachers for the wonderful presentation.

Shri Gurudev Gupta Memorial Inter School Group Dance Competition – January 13,2024

Delhi Public School Kolar Road Bhopal hosted Shri Gurudev Gupta Memorial Inter School Group Dance Competition on Saturday 13th January 2024, to celebrate the birth Anniversary of late Shri Gurudev Guptaji. Eminent schools of the city participated with great enthusiasm and vigour.

The captivating performances by the teams of various schools on the theme ‘Indian Folk’, mesmerized the audience.

Sage International School, Bhopal emerged as the Winner and received a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000/-. SPS Gandhi Nagar, Bhopal was the Runner-Up and received a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 3,000/-. The Best Choreography Award was given to Sage International School, Bhopal and the Best Costume and Makeup Award was bagged by Hema Secondary School, Bhopal. Madam Principal, Mrs. Vandana Dhupar, Madam Vice Principal Mrs. Anuradha Telang and Madam Mrs. Sargam Bahal congratulated all the winners.
