AFS Regional Meet Central Zone at DPS Kolar

The second day of the AFS Programme at DPS Kolar, Bhopal, on 8 August 2026 brought educators, coordinators and delegates from 26 schools together for a day centred on environmental awareness, inclusion, cultural learning and meaningful exchange.

The day began with a nature walk along Bhopal’s Upper Lake, followed by a visit to Van Vihar National Park. Cycling, birdwatching and a visit to the Snake Park offered participants an engaging introduction to the city’s biodiversity.

An inspiring session on World Wildlife Diversity by Ms Swati Moghe, State Director, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, highlighted conservation and environmental responsibility. An interactive game of Snakes and Ladders added energy to the learning experience. Students also explored Gond art, bringing a courtyard panel to life with intricate patterns and vibrant creativity.

Ms Vinita Idnani led an insightful session on “Students as Change Makers: Building Schools Where Everyone Belongs,” encouraging participants to envision inclusive spaces where differences are understood, respected and supported.

Learning continued beyond the campus with visits to the Regional Museum of Natural History and the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya. Curated experiences and an interaction with Ms Shibani Ghosh of the Organisation for Awareness of Integrated Social Security deepened reflections on culture, heritage, learning and belonging.

The AFS officials, Mr Jayant Hari Lal, Chairman, School Committee and AFS India Board Member, Ms Diya Badgel, National Director, AFS India, and Ms Asha Nair, AFS Regional Head, Central Zone and the panel discussed the deeper insight and larger purpose of AFS activities not only locally but globally also.

The day culminated at DPS Kolar with a cultural evening titled Celebrating Diversity, Creating Belonging. Musical performances by delegates and the host school celebrated cultural expression, friendship and intercultural exchange.

Welcome Assembly at DPS Kolar Road for Classes X and XII

The school organized a welcome assembly for classes X and XII, to mark the beginning of their new academic session with the inspiring theme “Dream Big, Achieve Bigger.” The assembly aimed to motivate students to set high goals and work diligently towards achieving them.

The assembly began with the morning prayer, creating a calm and positive atmosphere. A theme talk by students, highlighted the significance of dreaming big and believing in one’s potential by stepping out of the comfort zones, setting meaningful goals, and pursuing them with dedication and hard work.

The Principal, Mrs. Vandana Dhupar spoke to the students, motivated them with relevant instances from the Mahabharat and blessed them for a fruitful session ahead.  

Some students gave a melodious musical presentation, adding to the spirit of the morning. The assembly concluded with teachers sharing valuable tips which further reinforced the theme. The teachers reminded students that every small step taken in the right direction leads to the final success story.
