Delhi Public School, Kolar Road, Bhopal Celebrates National Sports Day with Great Enthusiasm

Delhi Public School, Kolar Road, Bhopal, celebrated National Sports Day with immense energy and passion today. The school organized a grand event to commemorate the birthday of the legendary hockey player, Major Dhyan Chand, who is considered the greatest field hockey player of all time.

The event began with various sports activities, including a yoga performance and a kudo karate performance. The students showcased their remarkable skills and sportsmanship, leaving the audience in awe.

The highlight of the day was the Annual Award Ceremony, where students who excelled in various sports and academic activities were felicitated with trophies and certificates. In a remarkable gesture, scholarships worth approximately ₹10 lakhs were awarded to students who demonstrated exceptional achievement in sports. This initiative aims to support and encourage students to pursue their passion for sports while excelling academically.The ceremony was graced by Mr. Mumtaz Khan, Vice President, Indian Athletic Association, and Principal Ms. Vandana Dhupar. They congratulated the winners and encouraged the students to continue striving for excellence.

Mr. Mumtaz Khan also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of sports in life. He spoke about how sports can shape individuals, teach valuable life skills, and promote overall well-being.

“We are proud to celebrate National Sports Day, which serves as a reminder of the importance of sports in our lives,” said Principal Ms. Vandana Dhupar. “At DPS Kolar Road, we believe in nurturing the talents of our students, both in academics and sports, and today’s event is a testament to that.”

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a spectacular display of sportsmanship, teamwork, and enthusiasm.

Delhi Public School kolar Road Bhopal celebrated National Sports Day on 29 August 2023 . It was organised by the department of Physical Education .
Multiple games were organised .
1. Kho Kho
2. Tug of War
3. Throw Ball
4. Dodge Ball
5. Mini Marathon.
6. Self Defence.
7. Sitoliya.
The competitions were played inter section wise. Tug of War competition for the class 8th, section A is emerged as a winning team in boys events and section C in girls events.
Throw ball competition for the class 7th in which section A was the winner in both girls and boys events Kho kho competition was organised for class 6th , section A is emerged as a winning team in boys events and section C in girls event. . The event offers a range of physical activities and games for participants to enjoy, and the performances are always impressive.

One week program concluded on 29 August 2023. Madam Principal Madam Vandana Dhupar in her Speech spoke about the life of the legend Major Dhyan Chand and his achievements in hockey and informed that he was acknowledged by Adolf Hitler. Then marathon was announced for students and participants reported at starting point and participted with high enthusiasm and spirit.

National Sports Day was celebrated with Castle of Dreams.The Students of Castle of Dreams showcased their potential in different activities and races flat races, hurdle races, zig zag races and recreational games on new basketball court. The events offered a range of physical activities and games for participants to enjoy, and the performances were impressive.

National Sports Day 2022

National Sports Day was celebrated in DPS Kolar on 29th August 2022 for classes (Pre Nursery to XII ).

The Day was celebrated by the students to commemorate the birth anniversary of Hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The Young Dipsites of DPS Kolar presented an amazing theme talk on ‘Importance of Sports’ in which they explained the significance of National Sports Day. They enacted like a medalist of Commonwealth Games 2022 and narrated about their hard work and achievements as a sportsperson. The tiny tots of Castle of Dreams participated in the athletic track and field events showcasing their aspirations as the future athletes of the school. The students of classes IX to XII enjoyed an interesting ‘Tug-of-war Game’. A ‘Mini Marathon’ was also conducted separately for classes IV to X. The main objective of this event was to spread awareness about the importance of sports and physical fitness in the life of every individual. Badminton Tournament was also conducted for the teachers.

The School Principal Ms. Vandana Dhupar advised the students to be healthy and strong and encouraged them to participate in sports activities. Students learned a lot about true sportsmanship and the importance of playing sports.
